Once the flowers have finished blooming and the bees have capped their honey, the harvest begins.
Join a Backed By Bees beekeeper for a hands-on journey through one of the most anticipated moments of the beekeeping year. Working with real frames from our colonies, you’ll learn how bees transform floral nectar into honey and how a beekeeper knows when it is ready to harvest.
Uncap the wax-sealed comb, load the extractor and take a turn spinning the frames as fresh honey begins to flow. Along the way, taste honey directly from the comb and compare the newly extracted harvest with other Backed By Bees honeys, discovering how flowers, season and place shape what you taste.
You’ll finish by filling and labelling your own 500 g jar of honey from the harvest to take home.
This is a small-group, seasonal experience designed for curious people who want to get closer to their food, understand the work of the colony and experience the honey harvest with their own hands.
