Fiddleheads are prized by chefs for their symbolism of spring, eating local, wild sourced foods, and of course their flavour!

Green Garlic and garlic scapes are two different things from the same plant, grown in two different periods in its growing season. Green garlic is the immature garlic bulb and has a delicate spring flavour. Garlic scapes are the greens on top of a mature plant, and have a much stronger flavour!

Early settlers looked forward to harvesting them after long, hungry winters, as it would have been one of the first vegetables they had eaten in months!

This week I’ll be sharing some of my family’s favourite spring inspired recipes using them. As always, focusing on simple & delicious!

Did you know?One of the most popular of all lettuces, Romaine is versatile and has a crispy, mild and sweet flavour. It also contains more Vitamin C than an orange!

One cup of pea shoots provides about 35% the daily value of vitamin C and 15% the daily value of vitamin A. In comparison, this is seven times as much vitamin C as blueberries and four times as much vitamin A as tomatoes.

With many of us preparing to celebrate Easter or Passover this weekend I thought I would share some favourite Easter dishes incorporating this week’s Veggie bundle.

This week’s bundle has options for delicious brunch, dinner and even dessert ideas. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate than to serve your friends and family locally grown vegetables! Wishing you a wonderful Easter and/or Passover.

Did you know? Spanish onions are a particular kind of yellow onion and they are slightly sweeter and more delicate in flavor than other varieties.

Fun Fact: Spanish onions are grown in low-sulfur soil, which reduces their intensity and allows the sweet starch to shine through when cooking.
